Pluggage

If you haven't seen it yet, check out this article on crochet. Who knew you could crochet with fiberglass?! I stumbled onto it via Natalie.

Fingers Crossed...the outcome

Well, I guess it takes more than finger and toe crossing to win on Ebay. The camera ended up going for way more than my maximum. But that's ok, I'm watching 8 other auctions now. I've become rabid, I must have a digital camera and for a reasonable price. When I say reasonable, I mean a steal! Ha!! I think I'm just too cheap, we'll see. Ebay was made for deals, maybe I'll find one after all!

One good thing is that I've been doing my research. I've come to the conclusion that the Kodak EasyShare cameras are what I'm looking for. I figure that an EasyShare is a good start, not too limited in capabilities and not too over-the-top/hard-to-figure-out/crazy-professional.

I'm excited, I already know what my first picture will be of....my knitting!! That's right, I finally sat down and have been practicing. Not too shabby, but I've got a ways to go. I'm working on a washcloth. Exciting, no?

Fingers Crossed!!

Shhhh...don't tell anyone, but over at Ebay I am the high bidder on one of these puppies....

{click the pic to learn more about the camera}
I've been wanting a digital camera for a while now for no other reason than to post funny pictures of my kiddo and crocheting. I ran across an auction for this camera and decided to go for it. I don't have access to a scanner anymore so posting my personal pictures isn't an option. From what I've read about this camera it takes quality pictures, easy to use, and is a good starter digital camera...all of which are things I've been looking for in a camera. We'll see!!

...maybe I'll be a winner instead of a wiener!! The auction ends tomorrow.

Sock It To Me, One More Time

Image hosting by PhotobucketImage hosting by PhotobucketImage hosting by Photobucket
It's snowing outside again, and yet another perfect day to stay inside and crochet...too bad Geof has other plans! I had been working on the squares I received a few months ago. I'm adding about 5 extra rounds of black. There aren't enough squares to make a big afghan, so I'm beefing them up enough to cover Geof. Things are going well, but I ran out of black yarn. I just love a good excuse to buy more! Right now I'm working on a sock. I didn't mention it before because I didn't want to jinx it. I'm further now than I've ever gotten with a sock and things are progressing smoothly, although I'm afraid that I will yet again run out of yarn. That's easily remedied though, I'll just frog it back to the leg portion and shorten the cuff. I'm using the pattern "Ribbed Hiker" from this book...
At first I had a bit of a love/hate relationship with this book. But now, it's more love/like.

Oh yeah, and just because I love to add pictures in my posts, here's a pic of the yarn I'm using...it's Magic Stripes from Lion Brand. The stripes aren't all that magical, more haphazard and chaotic, but I can dig it.

Oy!!!

Where to begin? While catching up with all my regular blog reads I ran across Deneen's latest entry, which lead me to Vera's, Bron's, and Sharon's. I couldn't help but let out a big ol' "what the fuck?!" Where did all this immature jealousy shit come from? Not that long ago all the bloggers I encountered were very kind, generous with information, giving with helpful comments etc. In fact, that's why I wanted to start blogging, because I wanted to be a part of a virtual community of like-minded people freely sharing their love of and experiences with crochet and knitting. Now it seems that everyone is tiptoeing on egg shells. Everything is taken in the complete opposite way it was meant. Will someone please tell me how it is inappropriate for someone to post pictures of a recent purchase, or gift on their own blog? Isn't that the whole purpose of craft blogs? To get new ideas, to peek into someone else's life, the sharing of information, continuing the legacy of a craft? I guess it's like everything else, even communism (gasp!), it's a great idea on paper but as soon as humanity enters into the equation everything goes to hell in a hand basket. I'm sure all these people who are crying foul are just as quick to share their latest findings. And what about that little "X" right up there in the top right corner? It's not that difficult to click, is it? Just because I may not agree with someone doesn't mean that I'm going to try and shut them up and deny them their right to freedom of speech. I just exercise my right not to listen to it!

UGH!!! I'm so worked up I can't even think straight. It's high school all over again. That's one of the most depressing things I've found about becoming a responsible adult....too many people do not mature past their high school years. Life is one big high school drama. Am I the only one that couldn't wait to put all that behind me?

I never expect after clicking the "Publish Post" button that 100% of the people who read my posts will agree with me. This is my place to express myself, and I've chosen to do so in a public format, for all the world to see. I do not apologize if my opinions differ from someone else's...that's life. I go about my business of blogging about my life as I see it. I don't come here to see just how many people I can piss off or irritate, that's not my goal at all. I just want to share my love of crochet and knitting...even though I can't knit to save my life! All I ask is that everyone out there, as a reader, respect the rights of the person who's blog you're reading. If your opinions differ, is it really worth all the drama in the end to trouble the waters? You're probably not going to change someone's mind. Just click the "X".

...Because Kitty's Have Birthday's Too!!

This is The Shrone's cat, Mr. Doo, and Sunday February 12, 2006 will be his 4th birthday...so, go wish him a good one!!

{The following message and the picture to the left came from The Shrone's blog, I was too lazy and unimaginative to do anything more than copy & paste...sorry}

February 12th marks a very special day! This is your chance to pay homage to Mr. Doo by wishing him a very happy 4th birthday! Send him an e-card, but better yet, spend a few bucks and mail him a can of tuna, and if you are feeling really generous, consider sending him catnip or his favorite snacks: Whisker Lickin's Tuna crunchies!

Mr. Doo has awesome mind powers and will know who you are if you fail to at least send him an e-card! He even has his own gmail account to facilitate your blessings, tributes, and worship to him. You may even want to go crazy and send him a real snail mail birthday card or postcard. He'll gladly give you his mailing address upon request. (No, he doesn't have his own post office box—yet!)

There are benefits to you bestowing a little worship his way!

  • You may someday win the lottery!
  • You can brag to friends how you sent somebody's cat that you never met something for his birthday!
  • You'll be able to look at yourself in the mirror and know you've done right by Mr. Doo!
  • Most tuna is now dolphin safe so you're protecting the environment!
  • Mr. Doo would remember you on your birthday (well, maybe not)
  • He is more evil than you and has better mind powers
  • You would spend more money on buying a latte or skein of yarn
  • This counts as a random act of kindness so you can negate some karma or move ahead one person in line at the Pearly Gates
  • Mr. Doo may purr with excitement over all of the attention!

But wait, there's more! Mr. Doo would appreciate it if you mentioned his upcoming birthday on your blog, in fact cut and paste any or all of this entry so that his birthday can reach as many people as it possibly can through all of Blogdom!

Written and posted for your amusement and entertainment. Sending a birthday wish to Mr. Doo in no way guarantees you'll win the lottery, spend less money than you would on espresso drinks or skeins of yarn, nor will improve your spiritual standing, save the environment, or enable you to live with a guilty conscience. There is a small possibility that Mr. Doo will actually purr over your thoughtfulness and generosity. All other claims made in this post were purposefully made to make you smile, if not laugh. Have an ordinary day!

Hoo-Rah!!

I love it when my mailbox loves me.....no bills!! Aside from that, the magazine I ordered came in and I luuuurve it!!! As I thought might happen, all my guilt melted away into a puddle of unadulterated crochet-related joy.
