Questionable Sanity

It's 90°+ outside and I'm making an afghan. That's what I've decided to make with the Lion Suede I scored last week. I'm not using a pattern, just doing the whole thing in single crochet stitch using an L hook. I like how the yarn looks in this stitch, the fabric isn't über tight or too loose making, what I think, will be a great year-round throw. I've never worked with this yarn before but I'm really loving it. It takes a little more muscle to frog, but then you can appreciate how well-made and sturdy the yarn is. I am pleasantly surprised.

Score!

It's been a long time since I bought any yarn. All that changed yesterday when I totally scored, big time. After I took Nathaniel to Charlotte, I stopped in to visit my folks and spent the night. While we were there I decided to go to this huge dollar store called Mighty Dollar. They have a ton of stuff and, like the name suggests, everything is a dollar. I'd been there before but it had been a while. The last time I was there they had a fair selection of yarn but it was all brands I'd never heard of before. The quality was lacking so I never bought any. Yesterday, however, there was an entire isle of nothing but yarn. There was a lot of fun fur..ew..kitchen cotton yarns, acrylics, Moda Dea, and Lion Brand. My eyes instantly fell on the Lion Suede you see in the picture. I bought almost $65 worth of yarn for $10. I got 10 skeins all in Garnet. There was also a lot of Lion Brand Big. I'm really looking forward to going back. I don't think Mighty Dollar is a national chain, but if you're ever in Forest City, NC or Charlotte, NC and you need a yarn fix, look 'em up! Now I'm off to figure out what to make with it!
