More Knitting Than Crochet

I finally faced the binding off demon and kicked it's ass! My knitted wash cloth is complete and I'm very pleased with it. There were only 2 mistakes, a hole and one row that was knitted too loose, other than that not too shabby for a first timer. I started on a scarf but the yarn just wasn't working out so I've decided to crochet a scarf with it instead.

Today I'm in the mood to work on a doily. Now I just have to find a pattern that rocks my socks.

Many, many, many thanks to Deneen for sending the most awesome-est book. On Friday I discovered this book in my mailbox..................................
I cannot stress enough how great this book is for a newbie! First of all it is spiral bound, and can be made to stand up on it's own, which is great when you only have two hands! The illustrations and instructions are very clear and easy to follow. The book shows a variety of different ways to do things and the ideal situations in which to use them. The variety of projects and stitches are all newbie-friendly but not too elementary and cheesy. The models are hilarious, some looked stoned, some normal, and some look like they were just released from the mental institution! I can totally relate! HA! Seriously, this book has totally demystified the world of knitting and I actually feel like I just might be able to call myself a real knitter someday. Thanks Deneen, and I really mean it.

It's Official...

...I'm a knitter! I lack maybe 5 more rows and then I will have completed my first knitted project...a wash cloth. It's done in stockinette stitch and I'm fairly impressed with myself. I've also started on a scarf. I received a gift card to WalMart in the mail today so Geof and I went this afternoon. I was hoping to buy a round knitting loom, but they were out. I also looked for some knitting needles but they didn't have the sizes I needed. So I bought some things that we needed around the house...not very exciting. I also treated Geof ( and myself, of course) to lunch at the local Chinese restaurant....I'm still belching garlic, but it was sooooo good. I've been craving beanie weenies so I made some homemade. Hey, it's my birthday and I can do what I want, right?
